Features and benefits

  • Manufactured under BSI Quality Assurance Scheme ISO 9001
  • Excellent spreading and smoothing characteristics
  • Provides an ultra smooth finish
  • Rapid drying

Uses

For levelling:

  • Cement screeds
  • Concrete

Suitable for covering with:

  • Ceramic, porcelain and natural stone tiles
  • Carpeting
  • Flexible floor coverings (such as vinyl or lino)
  • Parquet flooring

Constraints

Not to be used where some movement is expected (eg under-floor heating). Do not use:

  • On exterior floors
  • On permanently damp floors or floors with rising damp
  • In Industrial areas
  • On friable or weak surfaces
  • On substrates where some movement is expected such as heated floors, an application of Weber Flexible floor leveller is required, once this has set it can be primed and a thin skim of Weber Ultra smooth floor leveller can be applied to receive flexible floor covering such as vinyl or lino.

Note: The times quoted refer to +20°C and are longer at lower temperatures and shorter at higher temperatures. Strength values were obtained under laboratory conditions and may be significantly modified under site conditions.

Preparation

Substrates should be completely dry, hard, rigid and clean. Remove any traces of paint, plaster, laitance, old adhesive or other unsound materials. Thoroughly remove all traces of dust by vacuuming or sweeping.

Concrete should be a minimum 28 days old and have minimum compressive strength of 20 N/mm2.

The relative humidity of the substrate must be <95%.

Fill in any localised deep holes and allow to dry before applying the levelling compound.

Priming with Weber Tiling Primer will improve the screed’s adhesion to the substrate, prevent air bubbles, improve the flow of the screed and prevent de-watering.

Mixing

Do not mix if the temperature is outside of the range +5°C to +30°C.

Thoroughly mix 5 litres of clean water per 25 kg bag using a slow speed electric mixer (250 rpm) for at least two minutes until a fluid, homogenous paste is obtained.

Allow the mix to stand for 2 minutes, then use within 20 minutes.

At higher temperatures this time will be reduced.

Do not attempt to extend the pot life by the addition of more water.

Application

Pour the mix onto the floor and spread evenly with a steel trowel, spatula or spiked roller. Do not apply at thicknesses above 30 mm. The product will self-smooth and most trowel marks will disappear.

At 15 – 20°C Weber Ultra smooth floor leveller will have set sufficiently hard in 2 to 4 hours to withstand light foot traffic. Laying of the floor covering can then commence within 24 hours. At lower temperatures and at thicknesses over 5 mm, these times will be extended.

The minimum application thickness is 2mm (4 mm in heavier traffic areas and under tiling).

Weber Ultra smooth floor leveller is not intended as a wearing surface so the final finishing layer should be applied as soon as possible after drying has completed. If it is to be left for a prolonged period of time the surface should be suitably protected.

Allowance for movement

Allow for suitable expansion or control joints in screeds or slabs by following them through the new topping.

Packaging

Packed in 25kg plastic lined paper sacks.

Coverage

Coverage is approximately 1.7 kg/m2/mm of thickness.

Storage and shelf life

When stored unopened in a cool dry place at temperatures above 5°C, shelf life is 12 months from date of manufacture.
